PLEASE READ!!: Currently, all slots for home repair assistance have been reserved and are undergoing preliminary review for final approval. *If you are NOT in our database, you can sign up for Far South CDC HUD post-purchase counseling. This program will connect you with a HUD Certified Counselor who can assist you in exploring various Chicago home repair resources and options. CLICK HERE to register as a new client and take advantage of the support available from the Far South community!

HRAP General eligibility

1) ELIGIBLE AREAS

The City of Chicago (79th St (N), 129th St (S), Vincennes (W), State line (E)) offers valuable Chicago home repair resources for its residents. Additionally, the Far South community support in the South Suburbs—which includes areas like Calumet City, Calumet Park, Blue Island, Markham, Harvey, Riverdale, Robins, Midlothian, Dixmoor, Posen, South Holland, and Dolton—provides a range of home repair assistance programs designed to help those in need.

2) INCOME

Household income must not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) based on household size. Those in need of home repair assistance are prioritized, especially households earning at or below 50% AMI. This information is crucial for individuals exploring Chicago home repair resources or seeking support in the Far South community. (See chart below)

3) PROPERTY OWNERSHIP

To qualify for assistance, you must own and occupy the home as your sole residence. However, there are exceptions for tenant-occupied properties involved in accessibility projects. These properties can benefit from Chicago home repair resources and the Far South community support, both of which provide valuable home repair assistance.

4) MORTGAGE AND TAXES

Staying current with all mortgage payments and property taxes is crucial, particularly in the last six months, to avoid any missed payments. This becomes especially important when looking for Chicago home repair resources or seeking home repair assistance through Far South community support.

5) PROPERTY VALUE

The property must align with the value limits set by the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA). Counselors will perform calculations on your behalf to ensure you can access Chicago home repair resources and the home repair assistance available through the Far South community support.

6) PROPERTY CONDITION

For accessibility projects, the home must have a documented need for modifications, with at least one resident being a senior with a physical limitation or a person with a disability. Chicago home repair resources can significantly aid in facilitating these modifications, especially through Far South community support initiatives that provide crucial home repair assistance.
