2019 Vendor Fair – Feedback Wanted
    
On behalf of the The Government Procurement Compliance (GPC) Forum and the City of Chicago Department of Procurement Services (DPS), thank you to all who attended the 2019 Vendor Fair!
Our goal with the Vendor Fair is to build on our foundation of transparency and resource development to ensure our active small, local, minority-owned, women-owned, veterans, and businesses owned and operated by people with disabilities have direct access to government agencies with upcoming contracting opportunities.
The 9th annual Vendor Fair included nearly 130 exhibitors, sharing information about upcoming contracting opportunities, training and business development programs to over 1000 attendees.
The exhibitors included City of Chicago user departments, Sister Agencies, County, State and Federal government agencies, non-profit assist agencies, veteran organizations, employment and labor organizations, and financial institutions with resources for small business.

The City of Chicago has created numerous initiatives to significantly increase the number of skilled residents prepared to work in growing industries. Ensuring that disadvantaged populations have access to employment opportunities in Chicago is a high priority. This workshop will cover the Project Area Resident Ordinance and local hiring requirements, apprenticeship utilization and ex-offender bid incentives. Additionally, the Department of Family and Support Services and Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership will feature programs they offer.

DPS is continuing on the next phase of start-to-finish purchasing modernization via the implementation of a comprehensive eProcurement system. eProcurement applies digital technology to the acquisition of goods and services. It will allow DPS to collaborate with City Departments to create solicitations and contracts online, greatly reducing the time it takes to complete procurements. Come watch a demonstration and learn about iSupplier registration, how vendors will submit bids and proposals online, and how to view contracts and payments.

As of January 1, 2016, DPS no longer accepts paper applications for M/W/VBE certification. This workshop will give a hands-on experience filling out the online MBE/WBE/VBE/BEPD Schedule A application. During this training you will learn where to find the online application, what documents are needed, and how to upload the documents. Be prepared to work on your application with the assistance of a subject matter expert.

NOTE: Please bring your username and password for the Certification & Compliance System (C2) and business Tax ID number with you to class.

An Economic Disclosure Statement (EDS) is required of all bidders seeking to do business with the City of Chicago. Through the EDS, applicants make disclosures required by State law and City ordinances and certify to compliance with various laws and ordinances. This hands-on workshop will go over the proper way to fill out an EDS and how to submit via the online portal application. Please note that all vendors must bring their FEIN information in order to create an online EDS account and complete the online EDS application.

First Look: Department of Water Management
The Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) will preview potential construction contracts coming up for bid in 2019. Additionally, focused on the ambitious 10-year Capital Improvement Plan, DWM has opportunities in water and sewer main replacement, facilities modernization for engineering and construction projects. 2Q 2019 Consolidated Buying Plan – Vendor Fair Edition
The 2Q 2019 Consolidated Buying Plan is now available online to help the vendor community plan ahead in anticipation of the upcoming 2019 Vendor Fair. The Buying Plan highlights upcoming contracting opportunities for all City user departments as well as 12 additional government purchasing entities. This enhanced edition includes a “How-to Guide” for efficiently using the Buying Plan.
Entities that participate in the Consolidated Buying Plan are the following: Chicago Board of Elections, Chicago Housing Authority, Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Transit Authority, City Colleges of Chicago, Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, Public Building Commission, Cook County and the State of Illinois.

Pre-bid meetings are a good opportunity to meet the contractors who are going to bid on projects, especially if you are bidding as a subcontractor.  Also, as a contractor you get to hear all the details of the project and you have an opportunity to ask questions specifically relating to your business.

First Look: Department of Water Management

  

The Chicago Department of Water Management (DWM) will preview potential construction contracts coming up for bid in 2019. Additionally, focused on the ambitious 10-year Capital Improvement Plan, DWM has opportunities in water and sewer main replacement, facilities modernization for engineering and construction projects. These contracts, both term agreements and standalone contracts will be available to bid by vendors and DWM staff will be available to provide highlights and specifics on these upcoming projects.

Introduction to eProcurement
DPS is continuing on the next phase of start-to-finish purchasing modernization via the implementation of a comprehensive eProcurement system. eProcurement applies digital technology to the acquisition of goods and services. It will allow DPS to collaborate with City Departments to create solicitations and contracts online, greatly reducing the time it takes to complete procurements. Come watch a demonstration and learn about iSupplier registration, how vendors will submit bids and proposals online, and how to view contracts and payments.

2Q 2019 Consolidated Buying Plan – Vendor Fair Edition
    
The 2Q 2019 Consolidated Buying Plan is now available online to help the vendor community plan ahead in anticipation of the upcoming 2019 Vendor Fair. The Buying Plan highlights upcoming contracting opportunities for all City user departments as well as 12 additional government purchasing entities. This enhanced edition includes a “How-to Guide” for efficiently using the Buying Plan.
Entities that participate in the Consolidated Buying Plan are the following: Chicago Board of Elections, Chicago Housing Authority, Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Transit Authority, City Colleges of Chicago, Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, Public Building Commission, Cook County and the State of Illinois.
